In 2003, Pastor Pete Scazzero won the Gold Medallion for Evangelical Writers with this challenging book.  Pete tells his story of planting New Life Fellowship of Queens, NY - a very “successful” church on the outside, but seeing his own soul wither in the midst of conversions, baptisms and explosive church growth.  This seminar will focus on understanding emotional issues like fear, anger and seeking the approval of others that have the potential to undermine our ministries.  Rick & Jiji Harner are missionaries with New Life Fellowship (Queens, NY) serving in Cebu since 2006.  They will be presenting this experiential seminar that will encourage you to go deeper in your relationship with God and to search your own soul as David expressed in Psalm 139:23-24 - Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

In 2006, Rick and Jiji moved to Cebu, Philippines, serving as full-time missionaries of New Life Fellowship in Elmhurst, Queens, NY.  In addition to giving Emotionally Healthy Church seminars at various churches throughout the Philippines. They have also been involved in Christian higher education and have developed a community development program in their community called G1:27 Tutoring, which tutors about 200 kids each week. In 2009, they took on pastoral duties at Olive Grove Christian Ministries in Mabolo, Cebu.

Jiji Harner earned her Master's Degree in Counseling at Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in Nyack, NY in 2003.  She passed her comprehensive exam and began her practice of psychotherapy in the state of New York.  She counseled there for 2 years before returning to the Philippines in 2006.  In 2007 she opened Harner Marriage and Family Counseling in Consolacion Cebu (about 20 minutes north of Cebu City).  In addition to her private practice, Jiji currently heads a counseling certificate program at Cebu Graduate School of Theology  in AS Fortuna, Mandaue.

Rick studied at Nyack College, earning a Bachelor's in Philosophy, with minors in Bible and Missions and a Master's Degree in Intercultural Studies.  He taught and coached in the public schools of Elizabeth, NJ for 14 years.  During which time he served as a youth minister in several different capacities and worked with missions teams visiting the Philippines from New Life Fellowship.

Rick and Jiji have two daughters:  Josephine & Alicia.
